As part of the festival program, one day before the official start, on May, 3rd in Canetti House we’ll show the film This Ain’t California. Marten Persiel’s documentary, which received numerous international awards, casts light on the Skater community in the former GDR in the 1980s. Based on archive materials also from his private collection, it portrays a part of the anarchical subculture during Socialism. Everyone is welcome! There you may also try the newly-opened Canetti Mini Ramp.
The festival program on May, 4th includes also games for small children (4 years +) in the Skateboard park, where children will have the opportunity to test their skills on an obstacle course. And also in cooperation with Baba Tonka High School the urban art project Reclaim the Subway will be realized, through which in a creative way a part of our urban space will be decorated. From April, 29th under the guidance of the Berlin artist Markus Butkereit, 30 students from Baba Tonka High School will decorate the nearby pedestrian underpass and make it more appealing to the public.
We’ll wind up the festival with an after party, on which you may enjoy the sets of DJs from Ruse and Sofia (more info on: www.submonks.org).
