On March, 23rd the International Elias Canetti Society organized another Café Societé meeting in the Blue Hall of the Danube Plaza Hotel. Our guests at the meeting were the Actability Inclusive Theater Company and the team of Frontline – occupational therapy experts, both from England.

The main aim of the meeting was not only to get acquainted with the social commitment of the guest organizations but also to provide motivation for the establishment of effective local communities following the example of the British social model. The core of this model is the commitment of the local social community in which on a voluntary basis and through networking social inclusion works not only for the people with disabilities but also for other social groups in danger of exclusion. The experts from Frontline proposeа a specific method from their praxis which aims at exchange of ideas and application of synergies between institutions and NGO representatives and the citizens.

The Frontline team has been focusing on the support of organizations, support groups and individuals working with children and young people with disabilities. Now the organization conducts its activities in Ruse. In cooperation with the University of Ruse an Open Doors Day “Occupational therapy – transforming life” took place in 2011 in order to promote the profession in Bulgaria. Furthermore a storage place for equipment for people with disabilities has been made in the sheltered house in Baba Tonka 32 and also series of assessments of the needs of children with disabilities has been conducted.

The Actability Inclusive Theater Company organizes theater seminars for young people with or without disabilities working mainly in schools and kindergartens. The manager of the company Paul Bamlett is organizing such theater seminar in Ruse.
