December, 7th, 5 p.m., Austrian Library

The international Elias Canetti Society and Elias Canetti Publishing House organize a presentation of Peter Wawerzinek’s book Bad Love on December, 7th 2015 from 5 p.m. at the Austrian Library.

For the presentation the author will read a short excerpt of his book in German language. The actor Krum Berkov will read an excerpt from the novel in Bulgarian language.

The book will be presented by its translator Prof. Sc.D Penka Angelova.

The author: Peter Wawerzinek was born in 1954 г. in Rostock, former GDR, as Peter Runkel. He grew up in various in child care institutions and foster families. From 1988 he is a free writer, director, author of radio plays and singer. Throughout his life he has been fighting the feeling of the missing mother figure. When years after the Fall of the Berlin Wall he visited his mother in the western part of Germany, his coveted and cherished dream of the mother crashed into harsh reality. In an autobiographical narrative Wawerzinek reveals the wounds of modern societies, placing the issue within a network of intertextual quotations from literature and folklore and amid numerous reports of crimes against children.
