On May, 11th 2016 from 18.00 to 22.00 the event Literature Night will take place for the fifth time in Bulgaria and for the fourth time in Ruse. In the framework of this project, public readings are held at unconventional urban places. Every half an hour actors will read extracts from contemporary European literary works, published after 2000. At every designated place actors are going to continually read one extract. The audience will, thus, be able to move from one place to another, having the opportunity to get itself acquainted with literary works by authors from different European countries. In the event flyer, visitors can collect stamps at each place.

The project Literature Night is based on the conviction that literature is a unique creative tool of mutual understanding, cultural exchange helping to break down communication barriers. It aims to promote the dialogue between art and the urban space and to create a platform for presenting contemporary European literature to a wide readership of both literature fans and professionals: translators, publishers, distributors.

The organizers of the Bulgarian Literature Night are cultural institutes and embassies of the Member States of the European Union. The initiative is welcomed enthusiastically in Bulgaria.

The organizers in Ruse are the International Elias Canetti Society, the Regional Library Lyuben Karavelov, Cultural Center BH and Community Center Christo Botev.
