The „Ear Witness“ is a very rare word, which Elias Canetti used for one of his characters. It′s also the title of his collection of 50 characters. Each of the characters is about one page and surprises the reader with his own way of description over and over again, so that you suddenly feel like creating such characters yourself. So Elias Canetti’s 110th birthday is the excuse to initiate the project Continue writing the „Ear witness“.
In the context of this project we invite you to participate in our workshop, to invent own, new characters together with other creative people. You can write about yourself or about people, you always wanted to write something about! As Canetti said: „Everyone carries a number of characters in yourself, they make your experience and determine the resulting image of mankind… It’s useful to invent new characters that have not been used up… The tendency to see people in their diversity is an elemental and should be nurtured.“
The workshop will take place on 13.05.2015 from 13.00 to 17.00 (in Bulgarian and German language). The number of participants is limited to 12 people. Registration: anastasia.novikova@eliascanetti.org German language is not a requirement for participation, but please indicate when registering, if you speak German and the language level as well!
