Presentation of the genre Echtzeitmusik and short concert with violinist Biliana Voutchkova

March, 24th 2015 – 5.30 p.m.
Sala „Kultura“, Tzaribrod Street 3, Ruse

A large part of Voutchkovas work is tightly connected with the Echtzeitmusik scene, which was created in the last 20 years in Berlin. Rooted in the subcultural contexts of the 90s, the scene has developed a big variety of experimental music forms related to the original language of strong individual performers (for example: electro-acoustic, conceptual art, performance and sound art).

Already in September 2014 Biliana, together with her duo partner Michael Thieke, gave an attention-getting concert in Ruse. Now she is returning to our city, not only to perform at the March Music Days, but also to give a presentation on Echtzeitmusik at the International Elias Canetti Society. The presentation will show video examples and discuss the characteristics and phenomena of this scene. A short solo concert will conclude the evening, which will give the audience the opportunity to directly experience the phenomenon of Echtzeitmusik.

Biliana is a dynamic and thoroughly engaged solo and ensemble performer/composer/improviser whose work spans the widest possible range of music, sound and movement. Studies classical violin, in her college years starts being involved with the contemporary and improvised music scene in New York, a risk taker approaching contemporary and classical repertoire with the same inspiration and freedom characteristic of her forceful improvisations. Involved in interaction with dancers, improvisers, composers, visual artists Biliana appears in festivals and concert series worldwide.
