In the exhibition PIMP MY LIFE the artist Vladislav Georgiev takes a look at the pop-cultural practice of “pimping”, which means improving something. Georgiev refers to the famous MTV show from the 90s “Pimp my ride”, in which old cars got tuned into “cool” looking cars.

The artist works up object from everyday life such as a bike or a backpack, in a way, that makes it difficult to use them anymore. The exhibition shows, how style and consuming products became part of our natural urban lifestyle and individuality a norm on the capitalistic market. Georgiev comments on subcultural and scientific phenomena of the present and through this takes a look at possible future scenarios.

Vladislav Georgiev (1979) studied industrial design in Munich. Since 2009 he has been living and working in Sofia. His last solo project was the exhibition Pragmatic Therapy (2013), which was presented near the Women’s Market in the mobile gallery of the artist in cooperation with the Pistolet Gallery.
