In mid-January the International Elias Canetti Society hosted a two-day seminar for organizations participating in the international project Donauwandel. The main aim of the project initiated by non-governmental organizations from all over the Danube region is to achieve social change and sustainable development through extensive civic endeavors.

Donauwandel will be launched in March 2013 near Ulm (Germany), and the activities in Ruse will take place in August. This large-scale project provides for the organization of various events in 14 countries from the Danube springs to its delta.

In Ruse the Bulgarian and Romanian participants discussed the project activities in both countries and the prospects for further expansion of the existing partnership. The event was attended by Bulgarian and Romanian representatives of NGOs from the social sector and the spheres of innovation and craftsmanship (Agapedia Association, Phoenix Association – Vidin, Pro-Global Social Network and Centre for Social Research – Romania, Regional Chamber of Crafts – Ruse).

As part of the project the IECS will present to the citizens of Ruse innovative social ideas and will work for the inclusion of people with disabilities. The program foresees also a music workshop and themed walks in Ruse.
