This month Radoslav Mehandzhiyski and Teodora Konstantinova, founders of the platform for contemporary art and culture “Art and Culture Today” (www.ARTandCulture.today), will visit four Bulgarian cities – Bourgas, Varna, Ruse and Veliko Tarnovo. In each of them they will give one lecture which would allow us to understand the paradoxical world of contemporary art.

“What is contemporary art and which are the most curious works from Bulgaria and the world?”

How were the first installations and performances born, how did the idea of conceptual art arise, which are the most attractive contemporary artists and works from Bulgaria and the world? What lies behind the often bizarre and incomprehensible images and objects? Could anything be called “art” and does the classical aesthetics of beauty find its place among contemporary works? These are some of the topics that Radoslav and Teodora will examine.

On February 16th (Thursday) “Art and Culture Today” will visit Ruse and will give their lecture in the Austrian library, in cooperation with the International Elias Canetti Society! Admission is free, start time is 18:00.

You do not need prior training to feel comfortable – your curiosity will be enough! The lecture will be accompanied by a rich presentation, multiple images and examples!

Radoslav Mehandzhiyski and Teodora Konstantinova are graduate students at the New Bulgarian University and this project is realized together precisely with NBU.
