On April 21, 2026, the Elias Canetti International Society and Angel Kanchev University of Ruse will host a meeting and discussion dedicated to the EU Strategy for the Danube Region and Bulgaria’s Presidency in 2026. The meeting will take place in the university’s new building, hall 2 B.217, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. During the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emanuil Kolarov will present the topic of security and its legal aspects in the context of the STRATEGY—one of Bulgaria’s two main priorities. Dr. Viktor Kirilov, cultural manager at the Elias Canetti International Society, will briefly trace the origins and development of the Danube Strategy and explain why it is significant in today’s European context. During the meeting, an online survey related to Bulgaria’s presidency in 2026 will also be presented, which participants will be able to complete. The results will be announced on June 29, 2026—Danube Day.
