Welcome to the Literature Festival in Ruse! It will take place from 7 to 15 of October 2017, has a birthday and is titled “Parallel Worlds”. Our freshly edited Jubilee Book, contains works by more than 60 participants in this current and previous editions of the festival. On the 16th of September 2017, the International Elias Canetti Society, together with staff-members of the Regional Administration of Ruse, carried out the 2nd cleaning action this year of the yard of the birth house of Elias Canetti (13 Gurko Street, Ruse). Against the backdrop of current developments such as the Brexit vote or the migration of numerous people to Europe, it is becoming more and more apparent, that we are experiencing a societal transition. Which are the challenges that Europe’s societies currently face and how do we want to live together in Europe today? Under the direction of Zandile Darko (theatre creator) and Eslitza Popova (visual artist and film-maker of animation films) fourteen young adults from Germany, France and Bulgaria will address these questions by developing the performance FLUX.
