WHEN: 01.10.2019 – 31.10.2019

WHERE: Ruse, Bulgaria

WHAT: Zora Kreuzer, the artist who will receive the Sharing Future – scholarship of the IECS, funded by the Danube Rector’s Conference, will have the opportunity, through color and shape-research to get to know the city, its surroundings, its architecture, and to imagine and present an artistic installation, composed of the materials she will be collecting in her research, at the Elias Canetti House.

Zora Kreuzer is a painter whose practice explores the quality of light and color through site-specific light
installations and wall paintings. She investigates the colors and shapes found in public space, from advertising
and neon signs to natural phenomena. Born in 1986 in Bonn, Germany, she grew up in Berlin.  From 2006 – 2012 she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe, emerging as a Meisterschüler of Prof. Leni Hoffmann in 2013.  During the course of her degree, she also undertook study in France at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg(2008) and in China, at the Contemporary Art School Tianjin(2009).
Her roots are in painting, with a focus on Minimal Art and Concrete Art. With time, this grew into a practice based
on site-specific artworks. In China she was deeply influenced by the widespread use of colored light in public
space and as a result started to work with light, especially with fluorescent tubes.
In 2014 she was awarded the Christoph Merian Stiftung Residency at Old Customs House, Fremantle, Australia.
During her 10 months stay the specific light of Western Australia became the focal point of her research.
She adapted her color palette and created several large-scale wall paintings and light installations. These works resulted in her membership of the Australian Center for Concrete Art (AC4CA). This relationship has continued with further exhibitions and residencies since then. (http://www.zorakreuzer.com/)
